How to Clean Quartz Counters

If you are thinking about putting quartz in your kitchen or bathroom you are probably wondering the optimal way to clean and keep it looking new. One great feature of quartz is that it is non-porous and does not have to go through regular re-sealing like granite or natural stone. This means it is resistant against staining and is one of the most hygienic countertop options. It is also extremely strong, making it super durable you can see why this low maintenance material won't be going anywhere soon. Below are some simple steps to keeping your new quartz counters in mint condition.

For Routine Cleaning and Use

  • Wipe your quartz counters with a soft rag or sponge using warm water and mild dish soap
  •  Always use a cutting board when chopping
  • Quartz is susceptible to hot pans or appliances due to the resin and how it is produced. Always use a trivet or layered cloth to place hot items on the counter.
  • The best way to remove tough stains is to use a wet rag with isopropyl rubbing alcohol. Just gently rub the area. Be sure to wipe the area down with water afterward
Avoid putting the following items on your counter nail polish, methylene chloride, oven cleaner, turpentine, drain cleaners, and bleach. Putting highly alkaline or acidic products on your quartz counters will cause damage to them through discoloration or etching. Direct sunlight on counters in time will also discolor them.
